We’re introducing new interactive workshops this spring and summer!
Modelling after the flipped classroom approach, we will now ask workshop participants to review content online BEFORE attending our in-class sessions. The online content will be available on our LibGuides and will include interactive quizzes and videos. This will free up workshop time for review, practice and answering any questions participants have.
We’re excited to provide SMH staff with the opportunity to delve a little deeper into our resources with this new model of instruction.
In addition to the new model, we will also be introducing new content.
Endnote, is a bibliographic management tool that automatically formats in-text citations and references. You can use it as a personal database to store your citations, and take advantage of its many great capabilities, including full-text searching. The Endnote workshop will be offered every Thursday in May and June.
Basic Searching is a fundamental course that everyone should complete before they begin research at St. Michael’s. It will explain the foundation of a good literature search, while also introducing the library’s resources and services available. The Basic Searching workshop will be offered most Mondays in May and June.
For those that feel comfortable with the basics of Medline, we will be offering instruction on advanced searching techniques. This will be reviewed during the last half hour of every basic Medline workshop. The Medline (Basic & Advanced) workshop will be offered most Tuesdays in May and June.
